Koinonia Mar- Apr 2024 | Journey of Reflection and Renewal: Embracing the Power of Resurrection in Great Lent

Mar 1, 2024

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!

We are in the season of Great Lent, let us continue to use this time to humble ourselves in a journey that enables us to realize God’s perfection and our imperfections and despite all of that, how much God loves us through His perfect love that redeems us. The redeeming love of God is a reminder for us to put down our pride and ego and live a life Christ taught us to live. Lenten period is also a season for reflection on our human situation and its devastating consequences, as well as repentance. It’s also a good opportunity to think about the practical implications of our salvation in Christ and renew our commitment to living to this new faith life. (Galatians 2:19-20)

Throughout the lectionary, we can see that we are going through a journey of understanding the selfless love of God in Christ through His teaching, healing, and all of what He did that showed us that He is life-giving. This was the journey He took to the cross.

We are truly blessed to be back to this sacred and holy season of Great Lent, a time of prayer and meditation, fasting and abstinence, service, and spiritual renewal. As we focus on our issues and spiritual concerns, the Church’s prayers and sacraments help us on this pilgrimage.

We are drawn into the holiness of worship and God’s presence to discover our deficiencies and aspects of our lives that are at contrast to His divine and saving will. Lent, on the other hand, is not a time to be depressed, discouraged, or defeated.

The Mar Thoma Syrian Church, along with other churches, which claim Eastern liturgical heritage, considers fasting days are for fast and contemplation. Fasting is neither meant to gain particular favors from God nor to redirect divine intention away from the person who fasts. It is, however, intended as a spiritual exercise for a deeper experience of communion with God, allowing a person to see the divine purpose for his or her life. Fasting has the goal of transforming the worshiper on a social and interpersonal dimension. Repentance is a change of heart and mind on the inside as well as a change of living on the outside. Fasting is not just a personal, temporary, and painful self-denial, but rather a revelation of a personal, permanent, painful and profitable. Let this Lent be a season to become a time of Realization, Repentance, Renewal, Reconciliation, Redemption, and Rejoicing as we journey through it.

As we approach Easter, our Lenten pilgrimage to Easter. Easter is the central focus, the entire Christian faith is the death and resurrection of Jesus and foundation of the ministry. Easter in a way to victory goodness over the evil and hope that light and their Lenten. Pilgrimage of Easter. Easter is the central focus, the entire Christian faith is the death and resurrection of Jesus we find foundation of the ministry. Easter in a day of victory of goodness over evil and hope which conquers fear. Easter is the central foundation of the ministry. Easter in a day of victory of goodness over evil and hope that light and their Lenten. Pilgrimage of Easter. Easter is the central focus, the entire Christian faith is the death and resurrection of Jesus we find darkness. Different streams of the darkness are increasing day by day in and around us.

There is no Easter without Good Friday. One of the most striking elements of all the Gospel writers is that Jesus is still wounded even after His resurrection. The crucifixion wounds do not heal. They remain open, eternally. The resurrected body of Christ remains marked by his earthly suffering, forever. His wounds are the marks that point the resurrected Christ continuously searching for the salvation of human souls. The great prophet Isaiah prophesied the same long before that “By His wounds we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5)

Easter clearly tells us that Christians are messengers of the good news; the life, the mission, the death and resurrection of Jesus. Paul reminded the believers in Ephesus that the same power that raised Christ from the dead is the power available to us who believe. It is a power that enables us to live a life of joy, victory and to act with courage and compassion in relation to others. Let us all believe in the risen Christ and the power given to us through our belief. I pray the resurrection experience be an everlasting motivating power for our Christian life.
